Writing
a professional resume is truly an art form. If you have an ample supply
of professional skills and qualifications but are unable to present
them properly, your job application may go straight into the garbage
bin. A resume is your sales tool; it is
your opportunity to introduce yourself in the best possible way
and to obtain an interview for the position that you seek. An
outstanding resume gets more than 50% of a job done, and you should
never take this task of creating a resume casually.

The resume must be precise and specifically tailored to
the type of job to which you are applying.
The primary objective of each and every resume should be to communicate
your key skills and strengths as well as to demonstrate how the company
looking to hire you can benefit from them. For example, let us say that
you are applying for a web developer job, and you have an experience of
working as a waiter. Should you list this experience? Well, it depends.
If you have enough relevant experience, you should not list this
unrelated job experience. If your list of work experience is short,
however, you can include this work experience, but you should think
carefully about how this activity makes you a better, more qualified
candidate for the position to which you are applying. (For example,
working as a waiter requires good multi-tasking, perfect time
management, and outstanding people skills.)
What is a resume?
A
resume
is a document that lists education, extracurricular activities, work
experience, achievements, objectives, skills, and qualifications as well
as other information that illustrates that a candidate is the
best-suited person for a particular job. Sometimes, this document is
also called a Curriculum Vitae (CV). Though these two terms are often
used interchangeably, there is a distinct difference between the two.
Difference between a resume and curriculum vitae (CV)
The major difference between resume and curriculum vitae is their length.
A
resume
is generally a concise overview of a person's basic personal
information (i.e., name, gender, email, address, etc.) followed by his
or her education, extracurricular activities, hobbies, experience (if
any), etc. The ideal length of a resume is generally up to two pages.
